Forgiveness and Reconciliation
What forgiveness IS:
(Romans 12:19) Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written, “it’s mine to avenge, I will repay” says the Lord
(Luke 17:3) Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him, and if he repents, then forgive him.
What forgiveness is NOT:
(Romans 12:20-21) on the contrary, if your enemy is hungry feed him. If he is thirsty give him something to drink. In doing this you will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.
(Hebrews 8:12) I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more.
(Matthew 6:14-15) “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
